Curzon Bloomsbury Opens

Curzon Bloomsbury has re-opened, following a 10 month refurbishment, designed by Takero Shimazaki, delivering an upgrade from two screens to six, along with an added Bertha DocHouse screen that will exclusively show documentaries. The complete internal reconfiguration includes fully equipped 4K cinema projection in every screen, reclining seats, and the latest in cinema technology. The cinema is ony the second in central London to be equipped with the Dolby Atmos multi-dimensional surround sound system.Designer Takero Shimazaki incorporated many elements of the Brunswick within the refurbishment, and took inspiration from both modernist architecture and cinema masters like Andrei Tarkovsky. The beautiful ground floor lounge and licensed cafes include furniture designed by the iconic Eileen Gray.

Beaver Group have worked with Curzon Cinemas and Bertha DocHouse to develop and install a documentary viewing area which is outside of the Bertha DocHouse screen in the cinema. Three FHD 32″ screens provide an easy-to-use, iPad controlled library with access to a wide range of Bertha DocHouse documentaries which is free to use and available to access whenever the cinema is open.Across the three floors, digital signage is used to provide information on what’s showing, upcoming films, and food and drink available in the cinema. Beaver Group are also responsible for the background music audio installation.
